School Communications Committee Overview

comm_comm_tagline.jpg

Objective: To sustain and increase enrollment at Queen of Angels Catholic Elementary School through inward and outward-facing marketing initiatives that will enhance the school image and promote the school's presence and offerings to our target audiences.

Primary Responsibilities:

--Develop and execute a marketing strategy/plan for the school that establishes a broad strategy, matches our strengths with the market and identifies consumer-focused messages and "proof points" that resonate with defined target audiences.

--Develop and maintain branded, designed marketing collateral - both print and electronic - that support the marketing strategy. The marketing collateral should include, but not be limited to advertisements, brochures, website, event announcements, and FACT sheets.

--Market the school to primary and secondary target audiences - current school families and prospective families, the parish community and the local community -- through the following vehicles: print advertisements, school website, area realtors, partnerships with local businesses and cultural institutions, participation in school fairs, coffees, and events.

--Ensure that all outward facing marketing collateral (i.e., brochures, advertisements, website) reflects the school brand, design and key messages as defined by the marketing strategy.

--Coordinate and/or develop the content for all outward-facing marketing materials (i.e., brochures, advertisements, website) to ensure that the appropriate message, tone and information delivered are consistent with the marketing strategy.

--Maintain the "stock photo" library for use in all marketing materials.

--Work with the Principal and faculty to coordinate/participate in all appropriate school fairs, fall coffees at the school, Catholic School Week Open House, and other local events.

--Ongoing research of the competitive landscape and current/prospective family needs. Advise the School Board on enhancements to core curriculum or enrichment offerings that will allow us to remain competitive.

--Report project status and meeting minutes to School Board monthly.

Membership: School parents and others with communication, marketing, writing, and design skills.

Meeting Frequency: Monthly, 1st Monday

Newsletter Article - Our Recent Work

Catholic Schools Week marked the launch of the school's integrated marketing campaign with the introduction of the new Parent Primer, brochure and tagline — Child. Teacher. Parents. God.

With Father Bill and Julia Kelly's guidance, the Communications Committee "rolled up their sleeves" for six months to develop a researched marketing strategy that included a competitive analysis and quantitative and qualitative research. From that we developed key messages and a communications plan that was presented to the School Board in December. Our goal is to sustain and increase enrollment at the school through an enhanced image and strong academic offerings that are viewed as important to a child's development by both current and prospective parents.

The integrated marketing campaign will increase visibility for Queen of Angels and extend our reach beyond current families to prospective families, alumni, the parish and local communities. From events and coffees to school fairs, from brochures and signage to the website, we're reaching out – partnering with families and the community. Tell a friend, tell a neighbor – each one of us can help promote Queen of Angels!
