Chicago, October 9, 2005 - Braving the threatening weather and bone-chilling cold, the turnout for the 2005 Parishes of Lincoln Avenue (POLA) Walk For Life was a dedicated group. Actually we had the same amount of walkers a last year! And we were able to include St. Alphonsus in this year's walk, which made the walk four miles long! Photos of this year's event are available for viewing HERE.
Our thanks go out to so many people, to the priests and lay people of POLA who spoke and lent us their support: the people at the individual parishes who greeted us and offered their hospitality along the way; those who helped coordinate the events at each parish and to the walkers themselves for helping make this year a success.
We should also thank those companies and organizations that offered us materials and opportunities to promote our event: Illinois Right to Life; Aid for Women; Relevant Radio and the Archdiocese of Chicago Respect Life Committee. And our t-shirt vendor, and contributor, Ultimate Sports Apparel. We value each of those relationships.
The work of all of these people, the dedication, willingness and commitment shown by their participation in this, and other Respect Life events throughout the year, brings us closer to the day when such gatherings will no longer be a cause, but a celebration.
