May 2005 Meeting Minutes

  • Treasurer’s Report: Not available. Next collection for SVDP is Memorial Day
  • My Brother’s Soup Kitchen: 75 adults and 5 children were fed April 30th. Cost was ~$125. The next date is the last Saturday in July
  • Soup kitchen and pantry referral list: Lorraine passed out updated lists
  • Food drive: Rosemarie wrote a thank you note for the Guide
  • Home visits: Richard made one phone referral
  • Next meeting: Thursday, June 9th

Parish Food Drives

The St. Vincent de Paul Society runs the parish food drives during Thanksgiving and Lent, helps the Ravenswood Food Pantry, has developed referral sources for basic needs and visits those who call the parish office requesting help with bills. The Society is able to provide one time emergency financial aid to those in need. Meetings are the 2nd Thursday of every month at 7pm in the Voss Center. Call the parish office at 539-7510 to volunteer or to request help for yourself or a neighbor.

April 2005 Meeting Minutes

Present: Jim Beien, Bryan Dawidowicz, Ft. Tom Lamping, Ann Mccomick, Rosemarie Micklinghoff, Loraine Morgan, Richard Morton, Phylis Ramseth

  1. Reflection: Pope John Paul II's encyclical on life
  2. Treasurer"s Report: We received $1,034 from the Holy Thursday collection, balance is approximately $4,900
  3. My Brothers's Soup Kitchen: SVDP will continue to fund program, Next date is April 30th.
  4. Soup kitchen and pantry referral list: Lorranie has completed both lists. Members to distribute where appropiate
  5. Food drive --90 bags/boxes of food waere dontaed to the Ravenswood Food Pantry, and about $30. Group agreed to increase the donation to $500. Rosemarie will write a thank you note for the Guide.
  6. Home visits: There were 3 calls for help this month. Three home visits were made and all were provided with help and referrals. Members are encouraged to continue outreach efforts.
  7. Flyer: Father Tom had more flyers printed. these are to be distributed by members at any appropriate site.
  8. Recruitment of members: This past week had an article in the Guide on the overall Outreach to the Poor program and a request for more members.
  9. Next meeting: Thursady May 12th.
